Penn Waste to Retain Residential Trash Collection Contract Starting July 1, 2024
On February 13, 2024, the York Township Board of Commissioners awarded the residential trash collection contract to Penn Waste for the next four years. The new contract will begin on July 1, 2024. As part of the bidding process, in order to save on costs, the township will be requiring the use of mobile carts for all residents. By utilizing the mobile carts, Penn Waste will be able to collect waste and recyclables utilizing an automated collection truck. These trucks utilize a mechanical arm to load waste or recycling in the truck. With the automated loader only one driver is required. By placing material in the mobile carts, the bidders were able to provide the best pricing for the most efficient collection. For the new contract, you will be required to pick one of three options, a 96, 64 or 35 gallon mobile refuse cart. Included is your choice of One 96 or 64 gallon mobile recycling cart, or 32 gallon township recycling container , One large item per week, and 12 times per year curbside yard waste collection.
